Historic Murals in Downtown Lompoc
On Pacific Coast Highway, south of the Vandenberg Air Force base is the town of Lompoc, CA. Most well-known for its wineries and the Wine Ghetto, the downtown area has a historic vibe that makes it fun to walk around. One of the main attractions for visitors is the collection of over 30 professional murals, with a new one commissioned every year. I recommend a stroll around the downtown to see them for yourself, here is the info.

History
Inspired by a trip to British Columbia, Gene and Judy Stevens started the murals over 25 years ago. The first mural was of the flower industry and was painted in 1990 by Art Mortimer. All of the murals are designed to show some part of the city’s history. You can see a map of all the murals here, and below is the first one.
Honestly, I don’t have a lot else to say about the murals other than that I recommend stopping to check them out if you are driving through the town. Here is a gallery of all of the ones I saw so you can see what I am talking about (click to make them bigger).
