Where is Lompoc?

Lompoc sits about 155 miles northwest of Los Angeles, making it an easy two-and-a-half-hour drive up the scenic Highway 101. Located in Santa Barbara County, it’s close enough for a quick weekend trip but far enough to feel like a true escape from the city.

Hikes

Bodger Trail

For those looking to start their weekend with a scenic hike, Bodger Trail is a great choice. This moderate trail offers sweeping views of the Lompoc Valley and is particularly stunning in the spring when wildflowers blanket the hillsides.

Nojoqui Falls

A short drive from Lompoc, Nojoqui Falls is a hidden gem worth visiting. The hike to the falls is an easy, shaded walk that leads to a beautiful 80-foot waterfall cascading down a moss-covered rock face. It is great for the whole family.

Beaches

Jalama Beach

Jalama Beach is a must-visit for anyone spending time in Lompoc. Known for its rugged coastline, soft sandy shores, and excellent surfing conditions, it’s the perfect spot to relax or catch some waves. Since it’s a bit off the beaten path, it tends to be less crowded than other Central Coast beaches, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Lompoc Wine Ghetto

Wine lovers will want to make a stop at the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, an collection of boutique tasting rooms featuring some of the best small-batch wines in the region. This unassuming spot is home to winemakers who focus on quality and craft, offering a laid-back and approachable tasting experience and there are over a dozen tasting rooms you can try here.

For those who appreciate wine, Melville Winery is a must-visit while in Lompoc. Known for their estate-grown Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah, this family-owned winery offers a serene tasting experience amidst picturesque vineyards.

One of the most unique experiences in Lompoc is witnessing a rocket launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base. As a major hub for satellite launches and space exploration, Vandenberg regularly hosts launches that can be seen from various vantage points around the city.
